You need Adobe Acrobat (not just the reader) installed on your computer to make the conversion.
You can check to see if you have it on your computer. Acrobat may be in your "printers", so when you go to print your document in Word, you can see what other "printers" you can send it to. If you see anything with Acrobat, choose that....and "print." The output will be an Adobe Acrobat file.
If you don't have that, you should just ask someone who does have Acrobat or try the local library's computer.
Good luck!

In Microsoft Word, look in the "File" drop down menu. Select "save as." Click into the "file format" and look for the PDF feature. Click on that and hit "save" in the save box. It should also give you a chance to change the name of the document. It might be a good idea to do this if it will make it easier for you to remember which file was which. Up to you.
Remember, you won't be able to make any changes in the PDF document. Changes have to be made in the original Word document.
By the way, you dont need Acrobat Reader for any of this. You only need Reader if someone else sends you a PDF document.

To convert a Word Document to PDF, you need Adobe Acrobat. The Reader only allows you to "read", but not convert documents.

Go to this website and it will allow you to convert for free and send to your email address. Then use Acrobat Reader to check how well it did.
I have Microsoft Office Professional 2003 and there is a tab that allows you to convert word documents to pdf.
Go to limewire and find adobe acrobat full version. Make sure you have an excellent antivirus program as sometimes meatball heads put viruses in these files.

You can't do it with Adobe Reader. You either need full-on Acrobat, which is about $400, or a free PDF Maker. You can google for this one or go to the link below. I downloaded it from cnet and it is great. It is free.

Adobe has a service that allows you to do this online, which might be more secure than other online services (it's certainly a known company at least). While this is a paid service, you do get to create your first 5 for free (and apply security to your first 20 for free)
