now don't get me wrong, Jim Varney is irreplaceable (just like peter sellers to the pink panther movies), but with Hollywood's lack of originality, it's only a matter of time before they try to make another Ernest movie [my bet is within the next 5-10 years at the most]. so then, who could do it best?

I think Thomas Haden Church could make a good Ernest. He kind of has Varney's look.

well, it has to be an older guy...Jim Varney was older.....Jim Carey would no doubt be funny but he's too good looking for the role....and he doesn't look old enough....but the only one I can come up with....
