I am sorry that JD died. It is difficult to lose a loved one. How about going to a website www.rainbowbridge.com. It has a chatroom and some really cool things that will allow you to talk about how much JD meant to you. When someone dies we need to be able to share our pain and cry. The Rainbow Bridge is really a neat place because there are memorials where you can write about JD and even post a picture of him/her. Take some time and be good to yourself, you have had a loss! In time, when you are ready perhaps you will get another hamster or another pet. You will never forget JD because you loved him/her and that kind of love lasts forever. Read the rainbow bridge poem..that will give you hope....a real tear jerker but I have a few pet rats who have been gone for three to five years and I still get misty eyed when I think of them. Feel your feelings and know that JD loves you!!!! Also, how about a scrapbook, if you have pictures or just a picture of him/her with some special words on it. The Rainbow Bridge may be able to help there also.

There is nothing you can do to force yourself to forget your hamster, he was your friend and like family to you. Dont think that just because it wasnt a dog or a cat that you are not suppose to be upset. I got upset when my FISH died, so I know how you feel.
When I had my hamster (Velvet) and he died, I was curled up in the bathroom crying for at least an hour before I was ready to come out.
The best thing to do is to make sure that you take it slowly. Try to only think about all the fun you guys had and day by day the pain will go away.
What ever you do, dont feel sad about feeling sad... Grieve and it will pass and your memories will be happy again.
*hugs*

My sons lost a hamster also but its been several years ago. He was the light of their eyes as well as mine. I would suggest that you buy another hamster. I know it won't be the same as JD but you could learn to love the new one plus keep your memories of the times with JD. The memory of a pet is sometimes what keeps you close to them. Losing a pet is very difficult at times but I know you will be just fine. My sons survived and you will also. It just takes time.

well you know my hamster died 3 weeks ago of wet tail and i got over mine by thinking hes in a better place. And if he died of old age there was nothing you could do. If it was from a disease then well after 1 month or so you'll be ok with it. I'm so so sorry. I bet he was a good hamster!

PATTY-STFU and KYS. Bunnygirlgreen, just lost a loved one and it ******* doesn't matter that it can't communitcate like we can, b/c we're animals just like JD you turd.Feel sad even for weeks, it's normal, you miss him, it's ok to morn. I'm very sorry. If I were you, i'd find something imoprtant in your life thats coming up-exciting that is, so you can try to think positively and forge ahead or adopt another. I'll say a prayer, so the something postive comes out of this.My hamster-Albert (named after the father of relativity)is so precious, he is definitely one of thy best things that could ever happen to me. I know hamsters don't live too long, and it's a miriacle if they live to 3, if he were to die I have no ******* clue what I would do or how i'd live again, but i'd have to move on.I can't even think about b/c it upsets me. But, I block that part out and enjoy our time together, and when it happens i'll know that in order to move forward i'd have to let go, but fondly. Take care. JD was and will always be speacial.

The simple fact is that you loved your hamster, and it's hard to forget about it. I know from experience-I'm on my third hamster this year :-(. The thing you need to realize is that it was his time, and hey, don't obsess about it! There is a time when an animal close to us dies, and it's okay. It's a part of life.
Don't know what to do? Try getting another one, and enjoy your time with him/her. It's okay to feel sad, o don't hide it. But you shouldn't take this out on yourself. Just chill! Everything's cool!

Find a nice box for him, and wrap him up in a nice little blanket or tissue. Bury him in it, put a little marker by it and take the time to say goodbye.
I did this for my hamster when I was 13, and I was sad too. You'll feel better over time, and make sure to remember how fun he was to have around.

Your hamster is happy now playing with his other hamster friends. He is also waiting for you and he'll recognize you. You can also give another animal a chance at a good life now by adopting one from a shelter.

Don't worry, he went to a "better place".
He is in Hamster Heaven with the Lord now,
He will be ok.
Trust me.
Try to get over him by crying: It lets the emotions out.
If you keep them bottled in, you will feel worse than you feel now.
Don't worry.
It will be fine.
