It's all about perception!

Your wording and formulation of this question suggest that you do your best to sound 'politically correct' but in the end I highly doubt if you'll be able to get the REAL answer you're looking for.

Good luck!

If natural resources had anything to do with poverty, the Mexico would be one of the richest countries on earth, and Switzerland and Japan would be starving, poverty-stricken nations. Instead, in Mexico, the oil does not provide for the economy because the government is taking it with their own nationalized oil company. The only reason that the countries in Africa (beautiful landscape, abundant in timber, DIAMONDS in South Africa) are so poor is because the government restricts the people's property rights. 20/20 once went ot Africa. In an interview, the people explained that they were afraid to excell in bussiness and trade lest the government quash their bussiness because it was competing with the government. Look at all the African countries. Now, which countries have the most economic freedom? Accoring the index, South africa, Botswana, Madagascar, and Uganda. Guess which countries have the highest GNP? what about the most repressive countries? Libya and Zimabawe. Are those countries doing so well? No. Likewise, both North and South Korea are on the same penninsula, but only one is prospering. The only reason world poverty exists is because of political repression.

Political, for the most part. Very few people are so lazy that they will remain poor when another option exists.

To be more precise, a lack of freedom leads to poverty. Africa has more natural resources than any other continent, yet most of the people are poor. Japan has very few natural resources, yet enjoy a high standard of living.

I think poverty is due to lack of resources. Bcoz nowdays people are exploiting the natural resources nd not using them in a right manner. and this results to the lack of natural resources. If natural resources will not be available then there will no work to do. As natural resources are used as raw materials in factories. So acc to me povery is due to natural resources

Both actually, take somalia for example. They've got food thats imported (aid from other countries). yet due to political instability and the constant clashes between warring clans the food goes no where. They have to rely on foreign aid because they can produce them themselves as it would cost to much to get the necessary equipment, man power, etc any other resources... to produce themselves

Political.

The earth produces enough food to feed all of its current inhabitants (of course at the cost of over-working the soil, erosion and oversue of pesticides, so this won't last forever)

Think of just how much food gets thrown away in YOUR home... and in restaurants... daily. There is enough food, but not the infrastructure or the poltical cooperation to get it where it needs to go.

Politicala and resources. Every year, in America, crops go to waste. Partly because the resources to send the excess overseas is not available, this is political.

poverty is caused by the coercive acts of government primarily, mankind could more than cope with disaster related poverty if left free to produce and to keep that which one has produced.
