Sometimes the odor is caused by bacteria in the sink. Perhaps if you put vinegar and lemon juice down the drain it helps to remove odor. Good luck. You did not mention that is was stopped up so I would try to mix this and see if it helps. 1/2 cup of lemon juice for 3 minutes, rinse with hot water and then run 1/2 cup of vinegar down. Leave for 5 minutes and see if the smell is reduced.

Try dumping some baking soda (about a half of a cup) into the drain, then add some vinegar (a cup or so). Let that sit for like 10 minutes and then run HOT water for about 5. That should do the trick.

Boil some water and pour it down. Then bomb it with straight bleach. Rinse. Repeat with lemon juice instead of bleach. Rinse. Repeat with ammonia. Rinse. If it's clogged use drano. To prevent it in the future make sure you rinse down anything other than water you put in the sink ever. Don't just pour out soda or whatever and let it sit.

I have always used baking soda and lemon juice. Dump a bunch of baking soda in the drain, then add some lemon juice until it foams. Just let it foam until it stops and then run some hot water to rinse it away.

I've heard lemon juice gets rid of smells in the drain. Do you have hard water? Your softner could just be out of salt. Sometimes my drains smell a little if i run out of softner salt.
