I got the pill when I was 16 from the family planning clinic as I didn't feel comfortable going to my doctor. Any doctor or clinic CANNOT tell your parents anything at all (even if you had an abortion they can't tell them). You can get free condoms from the family planning clinic which I doubt you can get from the doctors. You can find your nearest clinic at - http://www.multimap.com/clients/places.cgi?client=fpa2

WELL DONE TO YOU!!
I am so pleased there are still some girls out there with a bit of common sense - if only there were more like you.

I understand that whatever age you are, any medical records are confidential and unless you told them, your parents would not be able to find out. However, as a mum, I would like to think that my daughter would be able to confide in me if she was thinking of going on the pill. The only reason I am saying this is because, rarely, some do have side effects, headaches, nausea, weight gain. It can be worrying for a parent if any of these things occur and they have no idea why. Confide in your mum if you can-she will thank you for it.

Firstly - you are being really sensible and if more people were like you, there'd be far less unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases around, so good on you and your bf for taking care of yourselves.

I don't know about anywhere else, but in the UK your doctor has to abide by a strict code of confidentiality and so cannot discuss this with anyone without your consent. This applies even if you are under the age of consent.

Depends on your state's laws. In NY, any female over the age of 12 can talk to her doctor and by LAW the doctor can't divulge any of the conversation, no matter what the parents say or do. However, this is not the case in all states. Some states, it's 16. The state privacy law supercedes the federal one if the state law is stricter. (The federal law says 18 years old.)

If you are in England (and possibly other places), then no they wont be able to find out. Best to tell the GP you are concerned when you get there and he will be able to reassure you that they wont tell your parents.
Please make sure you discuss with the GP about condoms, as you need to think about diseases aswell. Go for extra safe and use both, then you wont need to worry.

Nope, doctors are bound by doctor-patient confidentiality. But anyway, remember that the pill isn't a substitute for a condom, it's only 99% effective.

You could go to a Planned Parenthood facility. But one thing to also remember that pregnancy isn't the only thing to fear. Condoms are always safer if you are not 100% sure of disease or faithfulness

Parents are not allowed to be told if you are sexually active, on the pill, have an abortion etc etc. It's because all matters medical are covered by the patient confidentiality laws.
