The landlords responsibilities can be few to many. Each landlord is different. Some are expected to mow their own yards, while others aren't. Some are expected to shovel snow off their walk ways and door and some aren't. In all depends on what they say verbally as well as their contracts and leases.

Take it from someone who knows all about landlords. They can be rather "flighty" with their decisions. They can tell you one thing and change their mind within that very day or the next day. They think they are in the right by doing this. I personally feel this is illegal. Not all landlords are cruel and inhumane. Some are actually very nice about their rules and regulations.

If you are doubly sure that mowing your own grass is not on the lease, ask to see your contract. If your situation is not on the contract, ask to speak to your landlord. Hopefully the two of you can come up with a better solution to the problem. Sometimes it is a communication problem as well. See if you can iron out your differences. If you can't, I suggest you move elsewhere.

Good luck to you and I hope I was some what helpful!
