Go to the book store and look at programming books that deal with the types of programs you would like to write. Most of the books have a cd with them that has trial versions of the compilers you will need to go through the samples within the book. Get a beginner book or one within your level and learn the basics first such as data types, operators ...

If you don't understand something in the book study it and find out what it is doing.

Walk before you leap as it can be very frustrating to look at code examples and not have any idea on what they are doing.

Hope that helps some.

The best place I have found is www.w3schools.com you can learn html coding, xhtml coding, javascript, css (cascading style sheets) and lots of other great info. They also have areas where you can try what you have learned, where you can type in code and it will show you on another frame what the code looks like ina browser. Also the "Dummies" books are good HTML for Dummies", "Creating Web Pages for Dummies", etc.
