I speak Spanish and learned English on my own. One of the techniques I used to help me with my pronunciation has been watching movies and paying attention to the way the words are pronounced and if I don't know one, I would put the Spanish subtitles. But really, the BEST way to learn how to pronounce is by listening to music. That way, you can find the lyrics to the song in Internet, you read it while you sing it and you can translate it on your own. If you're trying to learn by reading, you can try reading a book that you've already read in English and liked very much, but this time, in English. I did that. The first book I read in English was Harry Potter 1 which at the time, I was psyched about, now I'm reading Pride and Prejudice. I'm telling you, these tips have worked very well for me. I speak perfect English and I haven't even been to the US!

Need any help you can contact me with no problem. 'Luck :P

It is very hard to learn another language without traveling to an area that speaks that language. Maybe you could travel to an area of a big city that speaks just spanish. I have been to China, for 1 year. I picked up Chinese so fast, and Chinese is a hard language to learn.
After I came back, I lost a lot of that skill. Because you don't use it everyday, that part of your language skills becomes "rusty"

Hope this helps!

there are sets you can buy at the book store with cd's and books so you can hear and see the language.

you're best bet, if you want to learn it in a more comprehensive manner, would be to take a class at a local community college. Most colleges like this will offer adult education classes for a fee, spanish is the most common foreign language offered, besides french.

For a around 200 bucks you can take a class, which insures you will learn it correctly.

You are not going to learn how to speak Spanish just from a book. There are video tapes that can help and also a cable channel where you can develop an "ear."

The best way is to find someone who speaks the language and ask for his/her help. The easiest way to learn a language is to have to use it.

The library is full of language books. Go ask a librarian for help.

In addition to books, you may want to try CDs or cassette tapes.
Check your local public library for availablity. If you like what you have, you may be able to buy a set. The library probably cannot help you with that, but, if you get the information (name of the set, etc) a bookstore like Borders or Barnes and Noble may be able to get you a set.

It's better to listen and hear and practice that way. Books will hep with the grammar for sure. But, it's good to do some oral practice, too.

hey I think you need to learn grammar first but it is such a long process. You really need to know it takes time in order to be patient.
You could get any basic book and check how words are pronounced by watching TV or something in spanish (by native speakers).
Before going abroad learn basic spanish in order not to waste your time abroad.
