With the high cost of health care, and college education would you rather spend a few more dollars out of your check a month in taxes or continue paying these CAPATALIST PIGS 50% of your income on heathcare. Or why dont we just start immigrating to Canada, Europe, Australlia, or Japan were they have these benefits.

I would vote no.

The government has proven over and over again that it is incompetent at handling money. If they were going to pay for all of our health care and college, it would cost them 10X what it costs us and I for one don't want to be taxed to death.

As far as universal health care in Canada; it is free but it sucks. You get what you pay for.

it's not a little taxes. it's a lot.
take ur current taxes, multiply that by about 2.5 times and that's about what u pay for universal healthcare and education.

But that's just numbers, I'm pretty sure I would do it anyway. The government tend to screw u less. I did say tend though, I wouldn't be too sure under the current presidency...

Also there is the american mentality that will fall into play. When u mentioned the other country you probably forgot that there is a different mentality in each country. The less capitalistic countries have a stronger "sense of community" i believe, and that can mean that a teacher let's say is more willing to teach for the a modest salary. If you have your mind set on money like in the US, the amount of money will determine the effort you will put in. When you think about it, for healthcare, an slightly underpaid doctor could perform poorly. So that should be something to think about. Private institutions pay more than the governament for sure.

Tell us how it is when you get where ever you're going. And don't let the door hit you *ss on the way out.

I'm sorry that was a little strong. I apologize. It is not the position of government to provide these things to the people. Government regulation and interference is partly to blame for the problems that exist in healthcare as it is. I think that placing the control of our healthcare and college education for our children in he hands of government is the worst possible thing that could happen. Perhaps you cannot imagine the red tape that would be involved in just setting foot on a college campus if the federal government was in control. No, free market competion with very minimal governmental review is the key in both cases. Besides, I need every dollar that's in my paycheck as it is.

No! The U.S. is a Capitalist economy. Capitalism refers to an economic system in which the means of production are privately owned, and capital is invested in the production, distribution and/or other trade of goods and services for profit. In terms of economic policy, nationalism is indistinguishable from socialism. When you nationalize an industry, you socialize it. And what is the difference between socialized medicine and nationalized health care?

To lower the cost of Health Care you must increase the number of suppliers. In other words we need more doctors and less governmental interference. If the Government had its hand in, say shoes, the same way it does Health Care, your shoes would cost triple. It's basic economics. So why doesn't the Government leave the Health Care industry alone? Because it would take time for the Market to fix the problems. This means that peoples lives would be lost to lower services provided, less medicine on the market. The "Market" takes time to run properly but when it does prices tend to fall in a capitalistic economy.

I would vote NO. I am already a hardworking person paying my own way through college. I did it on my own merit and skill and if other people can't do it too bad..

thanks but no thanks.

ps. it would all cost the same anyways, either out of pocket or to the government..

and if you want to move somewhere where they have universal health care go right ahead.

Why else do you imagine the state of the country and its monetary device is like that is? besides the actual incontrovertible reality that Gordon Brown became and is the worst PM we've ever had, the priority is getting worse by the day. This lot of idiots we've of Tories and favor to be Tories(lib dems) are proving they're only as undesirable as Brown and Blair. Lies on Libya, lies and damaged elements to get elected plus the ecu and euro zone. The fiasco with conserving the bankers is growing to be by the day. they have proved they're no extra efficient at finding out the bankers than the Labour authorities became and if something are maximum in all chance extra in cahoots with them.
