My mom has always said, "Don't advertise what's not for sale- people only know what you show them and its all in how you market yourself."

Your comments make me want to cry! Not a single one of you has the insight or brains to reflect on the assumption that in order for clothes to make you look "slutty" (or whatever all the *** insinuate..) there actually has to be such a thing as a "slut". At this day and age - can't women be allowed to have fun with their sexuality, the same way that men can? (Because, honestly - did any one of you have a GUY in mind when writing your morally righteous comments on "advertising what's not for sale" etc? Don't think so,) Women have a right to their sexuality, and to put it out there as they wish without being called sluts by repressed idiots who cannot separate themselves and their own ideas from what the sexist society we live in is constantly feeding us..

Can’t you people at least try to think outside the box? And even if you do not agree with other peoples ideas on personal freedom, moral and dignity - you can at least try to respect their right to have an opinion (and style!) of their own and refrain yourselves from judgmental attitudes.

And, back to the original question, only retards judge a person by their appearance. Anyone truly worth talking to will not.

It says a lot more about the culture in which she was raised than her character. If you dress in short skirts with a lot of skin showing, then you will probably look cheap kind of white trash-ish. If you are really covered up, then you will look conservative and proper. Try going for subtle sophisticated sexy. As I have gottten older, I have found that a lot of guys find simple things sexy, like a nice sweater or a ponytail. A cute skirt or dress with a complimentary fit doesn't have to be super short. Look around at what other people wear and what impression it gives, then decide how you want to convery yourself.

Mom is always right..however...

In a society that practices the basic freedoms of speech and expression as we do in the United States, women who don't express themselves as individuals is short changing themselves, as dress is a form of expression.

Mom maybe right in her time and generation as you must express yourself in your generation without carrying around a for sale sign on your back.

I believe when the women of the world are looked upon as equal with equal rights and privileges as outlined and enforced in the first amendment in the United States Constitution, then and only then, will we all be free.

So, ladies, get out those mini-skirts, pants suits and jeans and express yourselves.

I think so because if I see a woman wearing very revealing clothes I would think that she isn't afraid to give it up quickly, but if she dresses more covered up then she doesn't want to show herself off to just anyone. You can still dress classy and sexy at the same time.

your mom is a wise woman! Listen to her! The way you dress is def a reflection of your character... if you're not a s**t, why would you want to dress like one? If your personality is fun, would you wear a suit if you did HAVE to? if you were conservative would you wear a mini skirt? etc.......

people do form opinions based on how one dresses; however, these opinions are not universal - different people will always have different opinions.

figure out what you want to say and then decide how best to accomplish this. this approach is particularly helpful in business situations.
