Where did the universe come from?

The Big Bang theory is an attempt to describe the creation and evolution of the universe. The theory appears to match observations, and the theoretical physics appear to hold back through time to within a tiny fraction of a second after the creation of the Big Bang. Beyond that the theory cannot explain how the Big Bang singularity came into existence. See The Big Bang Theory Indeed, it is really pointless to attempt to go back beyond the Big Bang, it is meaningless to ask what came 'before' because there is no 'before'. Time itself came into existence with the Big Bang.

Stephen Hawking in 'A Brief History of Time' describes how time and energy came into existence with the creation of the Big Bang, but that the laws of science break down at the singularity preventing us from looking further back in time. As far as the Big Bang theory is concerned it is meaningless to look back beyond the Big Bang, nothing existed. Perhaps so, but it's very unsatisfactory to have a theory of the creation and evolution of the universe that does not explain where the universe, the Big Bang, actually came from, it must have come from something. Or must it?

We are in it! Well the one I officially know of. The universe is infinte. There is a multiverse combination of universe stacked up, these are called semibranes or branes, 3D universes stacked in 5D as 2D patterns. There is thought to be only 2 branes but there was once thought of a theory called the semibrane and the bulk and the bulk is between one brane and another, this is called the membrane theory.
So there would be an infinite number to these branes and these branes are all universes, parallel or unique to ours.
The fact that inside this universe light and energy is the cosmic microwave when the multiverse was to say that was infinite space so the multiverse must be located in a 5th dimension, this came out when someone was trying to rival Einstein's relativity theory of E=MC^2 of Energy = Mass x C squared of c=speed of light. So a body travelling at c will distort and convert to energy and turn to light of mass to energy to relativity. So really this didn't explain that the universe was finite but that a barrier would show a bound that the universe may have a wall but there would be a space outside that. So the theory was given the all clear but then given a wrong but the E-MC^2 sum showed that even a finite universe or infinite would the sum work out so this proves that there would be a physic of a multiverse.

Mari you have recieved some pretty awful responses to what many astronomical theorist may believe is a good question. Because the Universe is so vast and will never be explored in a lifetime, a safe assumption can be said (for trivia's sake) that the universe is everywhere.

uni = 1 and verse = plain... as in one verse of a song... 1 unity.... so therefore universe means "1 plain". To get technical... the universe consists of multiple dimensions including the atomic level. So there is 1 plain and that means everything exist there. Since you exist then you are in the 1 plain made up of space... some empty and some is not. If you are still confussed... then forget my above answer... the universe is buried deep in the earth.. yea that's it... start diggin watson

We are all within the the universe which is composed of billions of galaxies, again those galaxies are made up of billions of stars and dust clouds from exploded, dead stars & black holes. Our solar system is a tiny part of the universe. Universe is expanding as the galaxies are running away from one another into the unlimited & never ending space.

The univesre is finite and unbounded.
that is at this particular moment matter and radiation exist till some position and not beyond that, that is there would be places where nothing has reached yet, this can be thought of as some kind of boundary. but this boundary keeps expanding with time.
