I am sorry to say, that if you are under 18, and your parents/legal guardians object, no adult witch can teach you anything without running afoul of US law.

*Studying* something should not be a problem... maybe you should start out slowly by studying World Mythologies and MANY religions (such as Christianity, Isalm, Buddhisn, Hinduism, Wicca, etc). And then, once you're 18, you'll have enough knowledge to make an INFORMED DECISION on your own, and also have counterarguments for your dad.

At that time, he may be willing to be educated. We Wiccans are just like everyone else, and once he actually MEETS some, maybe he will stop freaking out.

Satan is a Christian embodiment of evil. Wicca tends not to look at things dualistically (good/evil male/female right/wrong), but rather in actions and outcomes, and we try to HARM NONE.

Good luck to you.

First of all, I would try to find a book that explains Wicca to those of other faiths, preferably Christian faith. This way, you can have something ready to show your father, when you sit down to have a talk with him. Try to explain to him that Wicca is not Satanic at all. Tell him of the two "rules," as it were, of Wicca. Tell him of the Wiccan Rede- "Harm none, and do what you will." And tell him of the threefold law. In case you are as of yet unaware of that, it means that anything you do, whether good or bad, comes back to you three times over. Try to explain to him, that it is the same concept as his, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I have had to explain Wicca to many Christian questioners. But, if your father really does love you, he will give you a chance to at least sit down calmly with him, and explain yourself. If he is still to blinded to realize that you have your own decision to make when it comes to the after life, then you can remind yourself again why you are Wiccan. Because, unlike other religions, we are not blind to the beliefs of others. And we do not persecute others because of their beliefs. We are firm believers in the fact that people may believe whatever they like. You should be proud to be Wiccan, and don't let an overzealous dad stop you. Blessed be.

Be calm and respectful. Only answer with love and not out of anger. Studying is not worshipping...perhaps you could let him know that after he cools off. Religion is not a fad and your Dad feels this. If he is responding like this it is not because he wants to dominate you but rather protect you.
It is fine to study all things,in fact, you should;however, be skeptical of everything. I am Christian but I am interested in all religions. I'm not looking to change who I am but merely like to understand where others are coming from. Do you see the difference?
Give your ol' Pap a break you don't have to claim to be a witch to be different. There are positive aspects of wicca (respecting the earth and its elements, etc.)and it can be intriguing; just be aware of the power and energy that can come from any religion... it is no play thing.

Explain to your father that in this day and age, people are seeing religion in different lights and that classic religion is just not for you. Tell him that you are happy with Wicca and all you want is for him to accept and support you. Tell him there is nothing wrong with Wicca and it's no where near as bad as what some of your classmates are doing (ie - sex, drugs, crime, cheating etc,).
I denounced my faith (Roman Catholic) to my family on Holy Saturday (day before Easter). Bad timing, I know, but they are used to it now. Although my mother and grandmother do not agree, I am free to believe what I want and they see I am happier that way. I think that is what helped them accept it.
Good Luck with whatever you choose to do and remember in the end all you have are your beliefs so you have to love those the most.

Practice it like real Wiccans used to in the Old Times: in secrecy. That'll just make your relation with the Goddess more meaningful because if you didn't make any sacrifices you wouldn't get anything.

You could also tell him shut the duck off, then walk into a duckling Church and show him how God doesn't send a storm to kill you because He doesn't have anything against Wicca.

If that doesn't work, remind him how Christians were also persecuted and damned in the Roman Empire before The Edict of Millan and Emperor Constantine. Not because they were evil, but because the society in which they lived was hating and retarded.

Your dad is wrong, We don't believe in Satan. He's obviously a very misguided Christian. Don't let his ignorance keep you from whatever you choose to be your spiritual path. It'll scar you for life.

I would not try to talk to him about Wicca anymore. You are never going to change his mind. Instead, keep your BOS and other books away from where he can find them. You can do alot of research on the web. I'll leave you some links. Good Luck.

Your dad may not like it; but you are your own person. It is YOUR life and this is America. You have the right to believe whatever you will. You have the right to worship however you will. Be who YOU want you to be. But to keep the peace, perhaps, practice your wiccan in a low-key manner. Sort of live and let live. Dont bring up your dad's faith with him OR your own. Pick other topics to discuss together. Perhaps, someday, your dad will come to accept your religion.

Study what you like, but also be open to learn about other religions and tell dad you need to learn on your own. You are just well rounded and getting to know yourself and what you like and believe in.

Study about the history of Christmas and Easter- look up Nimrod. Very interesting. Holidays are not what people really think they stand for...

If you can get him to listen, educate him how Wicca is a religion just as much as Christianity or Judaism is. If he won't listen, then just tune him out. You know what you believe and that is all that matters, not what he believes.
