I did little investigating here and used your response to the dog-pellet question as an example. Now I know what you mean.
It is not you. I was appalled by the unbelievable silliness of the replies to a really funny question. My English friends in Devon would say, "thick as 2 planks, they are."

It's not just you. But just because so many people don't get it, doesn't mean others don't have a sense of humor. I have seen many funny responses and questions on this site. Unfortunately, it fetches tons of responses from people who don't understand the joke.
In order to have a good sense of humor, one must have a certain amount of knowledge on general issues and the ability to find things ironic, that sometimes comes with maturity. There are many people on here who are under the age of 24. That probably answers your question right there.

Oh, come on. That is a sweeping generalization that just happens to be untrue. And I just HATE people that make such statements!

Really, look at some of my answers, and lots of others... Some of them are hilariously funny. Those people MUST have a really well-developed sense of humour!

Sometimes somethings just aren't funny - of course, I have a sense of humor I'm just picky about what I find humorous.

Some of us have a great sense of humor (honest!) but we sometimes just get tired of reading stupid, obscene, racist, or pointless questions and our answers can sometimes be flavored with irritability and annoyance.

I think there are several people who have a sense of humor on yahoo......a GOOD sense of humor? that's debatable
