my period is over 1 month late and i have done loads of tests and most were posotive but when i went to the doctor he said it was negative. so i went back to the doctor thursday and they said it was still negative so i asked to him to send me for an internal scan he replied by saying "come back in 3 weeks and we will see what we can do" i feel pregnant i have no signs or signals to let me think i am going to get my period.. should i change doctor or what as i am thinking if i am not pregnant there must be something wrong with me that my period is so late and my doctor could not be bothered to get me checked out

my doctor is obviously not doing his job right because if i am not pregnant there is something wrong somewhere and he couldnt be bothered with the hastle of makin an appointment.... its IRELAND i live in and there is no free doctors or family clinics as they are to hungry for money it is up to €60 to tell the blooming doctor what is wrong with you not the other way around.. he is suppose to do the diagnosing of his patients.

Being so stressed out will stop your period and worring wont help. Youve took a test and your not prego wait for a few more days or weeks if you can and go back to your gp and ask for more tests. good luck hun xx its horrible being a woman

Get a second opinion.
This idiot doctor isn't going to do anything quickly so you need to go elsewhere. I'm assuming you're UK, if so NHS sexual health screening clinics will do you a pregnancy test & check-up quickly and with no questions.
If you can't face that pay privately. Most chemists will do pregancy tests for you. You give them a wee sample and come back in two days, costs £10 - £15.
You can got to a GP pribately where a test costs £25- £35 but I wouldn't approach them for scans etc. If the test comes back as no I'd accept that as accurate, just change from your idiot GP to a new doctor and sort out what the problem is.
Word of advice. When changing your doctor, or using a private one, never ever be rude about your current doctor - no matter how much you want to be. You may find yourself blacklisted and have trouble being taken by a new doctor as you're a 'trouble maker', Easiest way round it id to say you'd just feel more comfortable with a woman doctor. No-one will ever argue that one with you.
Good luck with everything x

seek a second opinion. even if there was something truly wrong with you, they really should have spoken to you more about what was wrong with your internal scan (or what wasnt wrong, something!!).
i was very irregular before i started talking a birth control shot that completely took my menstrual cycle away (and i like it alot, because now i dont even have to deal with it) i sometimes went without seeing my period for 3 months, and then when it did come, i had severe cramps, and could not keep my breakfast down for the first day. my periods were very heavy and only lasted 3 to 4 days.
i noticed more of a delay in my cycle when i lost alot of weight, or gained alot of weight, was very sick weeks prior, or was under alot of stress.
but if you were always spot on time, then there probably is something wrong. go with your internal instinct. do everything you can to get a second opinion. wait in waiting rooms without an appointment until they will see you (they dont like it, but it does work, well, i guess it might not work the same way over in Ireland, but here, they pretty much just get exasperated, and then let you in.)

You period could be late due to a variety of reasons, one being pregnancy which is the most common. I would give it the 3 weeks and go back. they should scan you as you may have an ectopic pregnancy, the doctor should get some blood samples from you aswell which will be a better result.

The only reason why your doctor is saying to come back in 3 weeks is so that when they do the internal scan they will be able to pick it up, up until then it will be very difficult if not imossible to see anything. Be patient and next time use protection.

You may have been pregnant, but from the time you took a test to the time doctor dipstick did your test you could have misscaried your baby.
In any case, if you are pregnant you're going to be pregant for a little while so you can kinda prove your doctor wrong, without paying that rediculous amount of money. Just enjoy being pregnant if you are!

Dear Stacey,
Normally a woman is pregnant when she misses her first period. But if your doc says otherwise, ask him/her the reason of that belief as u said the tests are positive. If the doc could not satisfy you, then better take a second opinion from a senior doc. It is also possible that you are not preg and might have developed some menstrual prob like some blockage in the tubes. SO BETTER TAKE A SECOND OPINION FROM A SENIOR DOC OF A REPUTED HOSPITAL.

Go to your Doctors and explain to him that this is concerning you and that 3 weeks is simply not good enough. Tell him that all he is doing by delaying this scan is causing you further upset and stress which directly reflects his abilities as a GP. Make him aware that if this problem is not sorted out immediately that you will go to another GP and should it come back that you are pregnant you'll be back to see him for an explanation.

If you are that concerned, I would be, I'd change doctors. Or at least go to a different doctor. Are there any local free clinics? You can go there and have a pregnancy test for free. If it still says negative, go to a different doctor.

i would change doctors if i were you, sounds like he`s a few fries short of a happy meal.he should of been doing different tests a long time ago to figure out why you are mising your cycle. they have a type of med. that can regulate your periods. if your home tests are coming all out positive thats interesting, i have 6 kids and when i found out i was pregnant i did the home tests and all came out positive, but this with your doctor is sorta puzzling. you need to find a different obgyn dr. that will take your concerns seriously other than brushing it off like its in your head like this other dr. is doin it sounds like to me... good luck sweetie.
