My sister calimes that she and her husband are divorced but they live under the same roof till the kids turn 18. Is it something that would also give some secondary tax or other financial benefits? Could they be doing this just on paper to manipulate the system and using it for family's attention - to manipulate family while they are ate it?

Well... hopefully the kids know, otherwise its not fair to them. Also, their might be some type of financial child support in there but that's it. Their going to have problems with each other sooner or later and most likely end up going seperate ways.
