Are you forgetting something?

Independence Day - the REAL meaning - seems to have been lost.
Buried under all the advertising circulars, the barbeque's and beer and the fireworks is something called "freedom".

But since we're too busy with our own selfish pleasures...and we ignore how our current government is slowly taking away our civil rights...and we get bogged down in a stupid war...and our economy dwindles, I guess it doesn't really matter.

Maybe someday, when we are a poor nation, owned by China and unable to express ourselves for fear of government retaliation, then maybe we'll recall a concept once known as "freedom".

For me, I'll reflect on the Constitution and thank God for the few remaining freedoms we have...and THEN I'll open up a brew and toast the good men and women in uniform, wishing them a speedy return to America.

YES!! only 4 more hours at work & I get a day off! I hope you have a great holiday too - & be safe!!!

p.s. - I wanna go over to Victorys' place for the BBQ & all the fun!
since I don't have my children with me, I'm not doing very much to celebrate, but I always watch the Capital 4th celebration from DC! I love the 1812 Overture & all of the Sousa marches they play!

Here in Greece we don't care about the 4th of July. We shoot our guns at every wedding. Enjoy the day though!

I'm going to shoot off fireworks, host a huge outdoor bbq, and read the Declaration of Independence aloud (we do this every year)!

Hooray for our side (apologies to our British friends)!
