He is the reason I would support France if they make it to the Final. It be lovely to see his career go out with a bang by winning the Cup.

I have mixed emotions about this. Honestly: in general I think that Zidane is one of the - maybe the best midfield player ever. He is a great team player, he is a great strategic player and still he can be very playful. He is inspiring and can form a great team around him. However, I think at the moment Michael Ballack from Germany is one of the greatest. He may not have scored so far in the current cup, but he did a tremendous job. So on an all-time basis I'd say: yes, Zidane is the best. But I would like to point out that there is a Michael Ballack ;-)

I believe Zidane used to be the best player at his position in the world.. Not anymore, He has lost to much pace to be considerd the best. Dont get me wrong he is still very good because you never lose skill or knowledge of the game.
At 34 years old you cannot compete with the likes of 20-27 year old stars week in .. week out simply because you get to tired.
For this reason I do not believe Zidane is the best in the world..
I believe the likes of Ronaldinho & Juan Roman Riquelme should be considered to be the best.

I'm not a fan of France, but when Zidane is at his best, no one can touch him. He is very aware of everything on the field,where everyone is and seems to have magic feet.

hes definitely up there. its really hard to say someones the absolute best because there are so many fantastic players. but yeah zidane is amazing.

i do, I mean anyone who can make the Brazilian midfield look like schoolboys deserves respect.
France will surely miss him after this tournament as he can't be replaced.
