Maybe in some cases, like back in 2002 Juan VERON. That punk is a TRAITOR!!!!!! I use to like VERON ,but after 2002 I hate him. He did not play soccer because he was playing for English club.

I dun see any betraying or being a traitor in this. U are just playing in the club to earn money and play football itz not as if when one day Eng vs Arg Crespo will blunder the ball to Lampard for him to score a goal against Arg. If thats the case, Ronaldo dun have to go back to Man U le after what he did to Rooney though at the end of the day he might rrly dun have to go back to Man U.

Absolutely, not. You cannot mix up politics and football, and think they're betraying their fatherland, just because they work in another country. They don't work FOR another country. Not in the sense of a soldier fighting for another army. They're only working there. Honour and national pride should not be mixed up with football.
The tension exists, but it should be solved through diplomatic means. And I, for one, as an Argentinian, do not hate the English as a whole!
Football is business. And footballers are professionals who are absolutely right to work for whoever pays them for their job. Football is an entirely unimportant thing, while war is possibly the most important one. And we Argentinians are doing as badly as we're doing, because we cannot tell the difference.

Of course not, because that would mean that almost every european league would be filled with traitors! But I do think Cristiano Ronaldo will get an icy reception the next time he plays for Man U.

No, because when they're given the chance to play for the national side, they do so. Look at Messi: he was offered a spot on Spain's team, but he chose to wait until Argentina offered.

no i doubt it.
a war's a war. like america and japan. they're not still fighting because they're leaving the past alone. anyways, beckham plays for real madrid, and he's english. i guess players go where they please in order to find competition.
i don't think people call players traitors over that.
