What is the difference between social work and social science. Are these fields the same. If same, how?

Social work is people actively doing something about people problems, social science is studying why people do these things and all the affecting factors.

I don't know for sure - but I'll make a guess. I imagine that social work is the practical application of areas you might study in social science.
I could of course be wrong, but sounds logical to me.
