Could it be "It's a Living"? It ran from 1985 to 1989. Plot Outline: This series featured a group of waitresses (and a pianist, Sonny) who work at a fancy restaurant at the top of a skyscraper.

I think the show was Alice, and it had Alice, Flo, and Vera. The place was Mel's Diner, and I think Flo used to say, "Kiss my grits."
