You can try a records search. peoplefinders.com is a good one and there is also some others out there. From personal experience. I have used them and they have a no result, no charge policy. Good Luck!

look in the newspaper , or just call up his dad and ask him , even though you don't want to , its better to know than to always wonder. you could always not tell him who you are , just say your an old school friend , how will he know its really you
