Well I'm glad you asked!
If you have a pre built system like Dell or Gateway, there is no way to O/C the system for your bios options are locked ((because of the Intel board))
Now if you have an after market board all you can do is up the ram frequency because the multiples are locked.
Just go into the bios and look for CPU option and adjust the ram frequency a couple notches at a time.
Depending on what quality ram you have will determine how high you can go.

PS
Warning
The higher you adjust the ram, the more voltage it will need.
Watch the temps. Max i believe is ?? 65c ?? before it will start to throttle down on you and reboot.

A great place to check out would be :

Well it really depends on your computer. If it is a standard Dell, Hp, or a computer like that. The easiest thing to do is add more RAM.

If its a custom built computer, you can overclock. This means you increase the FSB (front side bus) or the multiplier. This makes the CPU faster, depending on your cooling you might be able to get it to 2.8ghz or even 3.0ghz.

Your best bet is to just add more ram! You will see a much better performance increase than any attempt to overclock and you are less likely to hose your system.

you dont have to make it so risky, you can buy a cooling system for your pc, and thats not gonna burn the chip up.
try http://www.frozencpu.com for some ideas for case mods to make the pc run faster at a colder temperature, not necessarily making it run faster at room temperature.

Do a search for websites on overclocking, but you do know it will void your warranty

all you can really do is add RAM to your systems capacity...for instance if you have 2 slots...buy 2 512 mb chips...
