There are still monkeys on the earth for the same reason there are still wolves.
Lifeforms adapt to different enviornments and situations, and some adaptations become more extreme than others, resulting in a seperate species. this does not necessarily mean the originating species is no longer viable, simply that the new species is viable in different ways.

That's because we are not really created from monkeys, but instead we were created from Adam and Eve. They produced children Abel and Cain, etc. The monkey theory is just that, a theory. It was developed by a human who was also created by Adam and Eve, though his faith in God's creation was weak. Monkeys are perhaps the most similar creatures to humans in learning and action. The chart that suggests physical development from the monkey to the human in gradual refinement stages, could have been created from other animals as well (with the right computer program). So monkeys exist, because they are still procreating, not because they haven't evolved yet.

The theory according to Darwinism is not that people come from monkeys. As your friend stated, that doesn't make any sense. What scientists actually believe is that humans share a common ancestor with monkeys, which is why we share many similar traits to monkeys, such as an opposable thumb, enlarged brain, overlapping fields of vision, etc. This common ancestor is thought to have existed in the Pliocene between 5 and 8 million years ago, based on the estimated rates of genetic change. Both of our species have since undergone 5 to 8 million years of evolution after this split of the two lineages.

1, There is more than one type of monkey.
2. Humans did not evolve from "monkeys." They evolved from primitive humans. Just because both species are primates, does not mean they are the same species.
3. Primitive man was not a "monkey." Even if he had been, why would you think that evolution ended when humans appeared?
4. This is not a very good question.

. If that is the case, you have to think. If we did what were the monkey when we supposedly started to evolve? They are according to scientist that they are our cousins. There is only 1 chromosome separating them for us . plus about a couple millions years of evolution.
ask you friend this question in return. If we where monkeys and they are still here why have they stayed the same and we have evolves into what we are today?
I personally do not believe it but they have a good point

First of all, monkeys and apes are different creatures. Monkeys have tails, apes do not. Also, we didn't evolve from any of the modern apes. We have common ancestors with them (and the ancestors were apes), but we did not evolve from a chimpanzee.
So your basic question is how it is possible for one species to split into two or more over time. That is what happened with our ancestors. Well, evolution happens in response to an environment with the direction of evolution pointed towards better survival in that environment. Well, the forests that existed in eastern Africa started to shrink a couple of million years ago. Humans evolved to survive in the grasslands that were left after the forests shrank. The other African great apes stayed in the remaining forests and so continued to evolve in that environment. So we evolved in different directions. Simple, yes?

We didn't come from monkeys, nor did we come from gorillas, chimpanzees, or any other type of living primate. Fossil records indicate that we appear to have evolved from a distant, long extinct relative of the primates that was as different from monkeys as we are from monkeys.
The reason that monkeys still exist (or any other living creature for that matter) is that they fill an ecological niche. For example, if we didnt have oceans, we wouldnt have whales. I

We are not from monkeys. The human species is called Homo Sapiens Sapiens. and we are primates like monkeys but we evolved from the great apes, not monkeys.
Do some research yourself, this is a very complex subject that does not have a simple answer.

If you can't handle an answer that contradicts your beliefs why ask the question and reveal your ignorance?
It is not a good question, it is a stupid one that demonstrates a total lack of knowledge about natural history.
Your good friend should have asked about the evolutionary ancestors of humans before working from the witness notion that they were 'monkeys'.

We didn't evolved from monkey's! That only evolution that takes place is within each animals species. For example all dogs came from one species. That same as all lizards came from one species. There is no evidence that a human has ever evolved and no animal has ever changed from one species to another. If the could don't you think by now that we would have seen this happening?
