I always prefer the build-your-own scheme!!! This way you know for sure what's inside!

Definitely build your own. Just make sure you know what you're doing. By building your own you can get exactly what you want and not have to worry about removing all of the junk that comes with pre-built PCs. Not to mention it's cheaper as long as you find the right deals, which is what you were asking in the first place. Personally I would recommend buying everything from www.newegg.com.

If you don't know what your doing its better to simply buy a pre-packaged "customized" computer.
If you're just a bit unsure of yourself you should go to small legit, well credited small "sole propritor" stores in your town. They usually have incredible expertise, being able to manage a small computer business in this mega-comp-mart world, as well as the knowlege to translate what you want, eg. I want to play AOE 3 over the internet, which would require high ram, and mid-size hard disk, to Viedo editing....mid-ram, extremely large hard disk space. Or one for kids or multiple (simple) users that have ram chompin' games but don't take up *that* much hard drive.
In any rate if you're asking this question, I think you'd be satified with either a custom talored pre-built, or to invest your time into a small store and have your computer built there.

It is less expensive to buy a prebuilt but you will end up with a cheaper computer. Best bet is to have a local PC shop build one to your specifications unless you have a good working knowledge of assembling computers.

interested dude is half right. in the short term it can be cheaper for the inital outlay to buy a pre assembled system.
however i prefer to custom build my systems. that way you know exactly what you have.
personally i'd prefer a little more speed in my system. but i built the best i couldn't afford.
6x 200GB hard drives two dvd burners an ATI radeon 256MB graphics card 3GB PC2700 SDRAM with an AMD Sempron 3400 CPU on a DFI lanparty motherboard with belkin Wi-FI router to name but a few of my components.
ultimately the choice has to be yours. if you do built your own system remember you qualify to buy the OEM version software.
see www.dabs.com for information on what is currently available.
or go to your prefered retail or etailer.

It became once that in case you outfitted your man or woman computing gadget, you would save a great number of money. in recent times, that is probable more not pricey to get one which's mass produced. once you're searching for a workstation, the Asus Republic of recreation enthusiasts pcs are priced o.k. and are extreme performance. in case you desire a pc, look at distinct the better end Dell pcs and HPs. in case you somewhat opt to construct your man or woman yet like it to be on your budget, inspect the "Barebones" pcs on Newegg. they contain a case, motherboard, and a pair different needed elements and also you could construct on correct of that by utilizing including contained in the photos card you want and the processor you want. this can be more not pricey then getting each and every of the elements one after the different, yet no longer as less costly as finding out to purchase mass produced.

It would be much cheaper to buy one spec'd out because major electronics buy them by the thousands and they get a huge discount for doing so. Buy it from a store.
