I agree with your assessment. He disgraced his wife and disgraced the office of the presidency. However, he was the most powerful man in the world at the time and she seems to be doing okay right now.

If she had of left him, she would no longer have been the First Lady of the United States. She would have been a divorcee and maybe that would have ran counter to her political ambitions. Also, throughout time, many "power couples" have consolidated their political influence and gotten far further than they would have if they only went at it alone. Maybe she thought that if she left him, she would lose her connection with the same majority of the nation who had voted to put Bill Clinton into office. Lastly, I think staying w/ him worked in her favor in that it softened her hard image as the over-bearing wife and made her seem more human, more soft, and more forgiving (even though she had Bill sleeping on a couch within the White House while he was running the country as the President!!!).... ;)

When it comes to Hillary, it's all a question of the "greater good". She has known of his affairs for a long time. For God's sake, Monica was not even the first "other woman" I knew about (i.e. Jennifer Flowers). Hillary knows politically she is better off to stay with him in a loveless marriage than split up. He is still the one with the power and prestige. The fact that she would stay with him for this reason scares me to death. Anyone who would put power above love can't be right in the head.

I think MOST people have enough faults of their own to pay attention to rather than to waste their time being angry at a total stranger for his. As far as image goes. I dont think the public would have cared one way or the other. People have already made up their mind about both Hillary and Bill and I dont think their break up would have changed anything. Besides, regardless, like it or not, it was her decision. She's a very strong independent woman. I doubt she would have had any fear or reservations about leaving him if she'd wanted too.
To: dkstringer24, EXACTLY! Thank you.

In part, she should have left him. But at the time, he was president. He needed someone to rely on. When people get divorced or seperated, it is devastating for most parties. She made a judgement call, and the right one with that. If the president of the U.S. was unable to focus on the issues at hand, it would endanger American lives. She decided to let america prosper while she dealt with the endless affairs.

If she had turned on him, it would have ended his presidency. It would have started an avalanche of public opinion, and the members of congress (specifically the senate) would have felt that pressure when voting whether or not to convict during his impeachment.
She knew this, because she's as much a political animal as he is. I imagine that the top floor of the White House was a cold, cold place for the last couple of years of the 20th century.

I can definatley understand how this question must be just eating you up trying to figure it out, I mean of course you should know all the details about the man's personal life since he was president, and we must know all the details about his relationship with Monica Lewinsky since it is so important to this country's defense against terrorist and such.. WHO CARES PEOPLE?? The only thing I have to say to Bill is why Monica Lewinsky man?? When JFK was hookin up with the likes of Marilyn Manroe, you think the president could getter better than Monica man..

You are right, and they are delusional about what that image is. Nobody actually believes that they have a real marriage, with him living in New York and Hillary in her Washington, D.C. mansion. She may stay in New York enough to satisfy residency requirements but I cannot imagine Bill hitting the sack with her. Eeeeeewwwwwww!!!! Sorry for the graphic.

It would be dependent upon whether or or not she is having her desires met in the relationship. While the universally accepted reason for marrying is `true love' and ` soul mate companionship', this may not be the driving force or the bonding factor in this unique relationship. It would seem that fame, notoriety, power, and fortune are the bonding issues between these two individuals. While you and I may consider that the lesser reasons for remaining married, it may very well work for them.

Why do people always insist that sex is love.
They are two completely different things. Like eating,..love and sex are instincts. We are born with them.
I don't mean to belittle it but what if he had dinner with them Would that be ok? No,heh? That's better, but not much better, right.
Maybe it's just as simple an explanation as the Clinton's, an intelligent couple, love each other and are not about to ruin their lives together for what may be foolish indiscretions. We have no idea of what their, intitled to, private lives are about.
We're all human beings.
All to many of us are quick to throw stones but hate like hell to have to dodge them when thrown at us as we are yelling at the top of our lungs, "Mind your own business".

I think it was a good political move. It is a show of loyalty even when he was not loyal to her. That looks good in the eyes of religious people. It was good move politically. Or maybe she really loves him and has a very forgiving heart and thought is was the best thing for her family. Its one or the other you decided because we will never know the truth.
