We shouldn't even have a immigration law. What we need is to overcome "some day."

No. I do believe that there needs to be immigration reform. However, making all illegal immigrants, or undocumented workers, felons is not the answer, and neither is building a new fence. How can you place someone who wants to make a better life for themselves and their families, in jail with murderers, child molesters and drug dealers?

There needs to be a safer and more efficient way for immigrants to acquire resident status. (I had a friend who waited 9 years to become a resident! Not even a citizen!) I agree that becoming a citizen should not be easy, but does it need to be so expensive, time consuming and damn near impossible? And a fence is nothing more than another obstacle for them to climb. They risk their lives swimming in oceans and rivers, trekking through the unforgiving desert, and trying to out run the Border Patrol. A new fence is certainly not going to deter them.

I believe a REAL dialogue must be done in order to make change. But that is not going to happen when Congress is making a big deal over this bill that will not pass. Reform yes, jail time no.
