Try spybot search and destroy, adaware se, ewido, and microsoft defender for spyware removal. AVG or AVAST are good free antivirus. Bitdefender does a good job of REMOVING virus but the free version does not have active protection. SPYWARE Blaster does a good job in protecting you once your system is clean but you need to turn off M/S defender.

The best combination of anti-virus & anti-spyware/adwares would be:
Anti-virus: AVG
Anti-spyware: Spybot: search & destroy
Anti-Adware: adAware SE & Windows defender beta.
If you are using XP professional: It includes firewall (check in security in control panel & acitvate it)
Good news: All of the above AV's are free & recommended by microsoft!

Go to Microtrend.com and run their Housecall program. It is an on line virus scan and removal program.
Then search for Avast, when you find a download site, download and install the program.
Avast is an excellent anti virus program that automatically updates itself.
Then go to Lavasoft.com and download and install Ad-Aware, is it an anti spy wear program.

All good recommendations.
What I would also recommend is that you visit one of the free online tech help sites where folks who have experience in cleaning up infected computers can help insure your PC is clean.
Two sites that I'm involved with:

http://forums.techguy.org/
Good luck.
