It all depends upon whether there are any rarities and the condition not only of the album but the jacket...and if there were inserts, are they still there? Those alone will add a lot of value to an album. Most in demand are vintage rock and roll - the Streisand albums make good frisbees.
As to the 78's, the ones that are really worth the bucks are vintage rock and roll and blues...big bands, Crosby, Sinatra etc. aren't worth more than a few cents since there were so many sold.
Personally, like someone else noted, I'd hang on to them for sentimental value. If you're hard up for money, pick up a copy of DisCoveries magazine and check the ads. That might give you some indication as to what you have and whether they're worth anything. IF - and that's a big IF - you have something that is really worth a lot, contact John Tefteller (he has the 4 page auction ad in the center of the magazine) and work with him. He's the world's leading dealer in rare records and is reputable.
And, its a lot better to find out from him than it is to cough up $25 or so on a price guide.

Use Ebay.com's advanced search. There you can "check completed listings". Seach for similar albums. When you check that box, you will see what the item sold for. It will be useful to compare and get an idea of what your albums are worth.

In addition to any offers you receive you might also research museums or archives that would accept a donation and give you a tax credit for more than a dealer would offer...
