I just know one thing:
The only stupid question is the one you don't ask...
and BTW, why should you care what others think.... you ask that question to satisfy your curiosity and I hope, the thirst for knowledge... so as long as you get an answer that makes sense, you need not fear about the question itself.
Also, I have realized that when dealing with an issue, say attending a lecture in the class, many students have the same kind of question, but are kinda afraid to ask, and when someone does ask it, they're kinda relieved.

lol - okay, the rabid bird thing is a bit extreme, but I have asked some silly questions on here & had no problem doing so.

Mostly, because hearing what a plethora of answerers do freaks me out. I don't ask like really dark deep questions, because people will just laugh about them and say, GO GET A LIFE! It really hurts me, but oh wel...

what's the point in being scared or embarrassed. if people didn't do anything because they were scared a whole lot of nothing would get done.
