in 2000 peace seemed near, and then arafat left the table, and violence erupted. Since then, Israel has made some concessions, only to be met by a govenrment that preaches extermination of israel. Why do the palestinian leaders not see that if they recognized israel, and signed peace accords, eropean money would flood their economy. Yet, if they fight, empty promisses of money from arab countries, small ammounts of "terror" money will trickle in, and the suffering will continue. So why dont they stop talking so tough when they know they can only loose, and return to seeking peace?

Like any other bureaucracy, the Palestinian leaders realise that once there is peace, the reason for Hamas and Fatah will no longer exist.
Before 1948, (and this is funny) the Arab population of what is now Israel insisted that they were Arabs. It was the Jews who lived in Palestine who called themselves Palestinian. The Arabs took over that term in the early 1960's, when the Palestinian National Council declared that they would push the Zionists into the sea. As an aside, this was while Jordan was in control of the West Bank and Jerusalem, and Egypt owned Gaza.
The problem is that they do not think that they will lose. Whenever there is a small concession that goes their way, they look upon it as a major victory, and a reason for more terrorism. This is what the Israeli government is afraid of wi the case of the kidnapped soldier. If there are any Palestinian prisoners released in his exchange, what is stopping Hamas from doing this again. Terrorists are not known for their integrity.

They do not want war, they just want their land back. They lost their country to an invading force sponsored by US. If you check the map you will see that there is only space for one country, there is either space for Israel,or Palestine. To think that there could actually be two countries is like thinking that you could put two hats on one head, or two people in one chair, or two feet in one sock. It just does not work. The Palestinians have no choice. They are extinct if they do not fight, the Israelites will starve them to death in the desert or kill them with your bombs and bullets. That is real life, and thinking "Oh Dear, why can't they just get along" is not real. the choice is one or the other, not both. Israel doesn't even want to think of accepting Arabs as citizens because Israel is a Jewish state and that is Important to realize as well, non Jews may visit but they are never part of the twelve tribes.Arabs are especially not invited. They are kept in camps in the Gaza Strip and on the West Bank in view of their old property but behind barb wire and now behind a wall like the Iron Curtain. Imagine if you could see the house you grew up in but If you went near you would get shot . No wonder they hate the Western World, I would be pretty bitter if I was in their position, Especially when they were the only place willing to accept Jewish refugees from Germany before or right after the Second World War

Because Israel should be there in the first place. It was not a country until it was taken from the Palestinians in 1948.
The Palestinians are fighting a just war. It's Israel that is in the wrong and should be made to meet the demands of the Palestinian people not the other way around.
If I were Palestinian I would fight too, I suspect that if you were one you would fight as well.

The Fatah party is in favor of working with Israel and so are most of the people in hamas. The problem is the hardened members of the militant wing in hamas keep the feud going to stay a factor in the country. Israel's attacking Fatah offices only provoked people that wee trying to work with Israel. I thought Israel could have done a better job and only attacked the people who are members of Hamas's militant wing.

Because this is who they are.
War and death is all they know.
When it is the highest honor for you to die and kill as many Israeli civilians as possible..........
When you're a child and have your picture taken wearing an explosive belt......
When you grow up and are taught hatred from your very first day in school.......
Peace for such people is non existant.
How do you negotiate a peace with a person whos only goal in life is to see you dead?
How do you sit at a table to talk peace with a government who has repeatedly stated that they dont believe in your right to EXIST?

If they thought logically, that would've happened fifty years ago. Unfortunately, they have raised a generation, and are in the process of raising a second, filled with hate and bloodthirst. It the palestinians put down their weapons, there would be no war. If Israel put down their weapons, there would be no Israel

The arabs are driven by religious fanaticizm. They cannot tolerate a non-muslim entity on what they consider to be holy muslim land. Religion and pride (as opposed to logic) play a huge role in arabic mentality.

I don't think the Palestinians want war, they want their land back and Israelis have to mend their ways and co-operate instead of destroying the property and people of Palestine!
