i was really disgusted when this damn desktop just woudn't start the windows! the messages displayed were, one of your files is corrupt, or missing, you need to update you comp., etc.
then i tried in the evening, and it started windows? what should i do if it happens again?

Virus scan, the beginning of a boot virus installing it self to your hard drive run your anti-virus with the up-dates. If you have WIN XP under my computer; properties;under REMOTE unchecked remote assistance & remote desktop and reduce amount of restore .
Do you have any System mechanic program?
which it does a system tune-up ,defrag., clean-up, check missing links, repairing the working order of it remove junk on their hard drive, overall spring cleaning. Do you have any problem downloading ? Error on up-dates? If you do just back-up important Data on disc than reformat OS it might take a couple of time it took me 5X to take the OS disc to factory install after that install firewall anti-virus and other programs.Since your there remove the Dust Bunny from the Tower.

It depends on the file mentioned, but most likely was a core system file that was needed. Windows sometimes does this and the solution is normally an easy one. You should have received a windows cd with your comp, if this happens again... you can boot your computer into the dos prompt and pull whatever missing file you need from the disk - allowing your computer to boot properly. If you don't have a CD, you can always use a friends computer and find the file in their system or on the internet to replace it.

Try Windows Update first. If that doesn't fix it, you need to try to repair the installation. To do that, boot with your original Windows installation disc. If it can't be repaired, you will have to reinstall Windows.

U haven't specifically told was it a Window's error or some programm error...
if it is the latter one just u have to do is to uninstall and than reinstall that program....
