I broke the #2 and #3 toes on my right foot, they have healed and when |I hurt my foot and leg, my leg was x-rayed and they found nothing. I still have tremendous pain in the bottome of my foot and in my leg. physical therapy only makes it worse. They have tried a tens unit and that makes the pain worse. The physical therapist said I might possibly have damaged muscles and tendons, and my podiatrist wants me to see a physical science Dr. He says I may have RSD. I know my body and I know something is wrong with my leg mainly because I cannot move my foot up and down and I cannot move my toes, I try to move them but it almost seems like they are paralized. I have asked for an MRI or Cat scan and if my Dr. doesn't agree, I will probably get a 2nd opinion. SOmeone please tell me what I should do.

Try to see a physiatrist / pain management specialist. RSD (also known as CRPS) is certainly a possibility since physical therapy and modalities make it worse. You can research RSD here:

It is always a good idea to get a second opinion. Make sure you get the opinion from a physiatrist or orthopedic specialist (preferably one who specializes in foot and ankle problems). Good Luck!

I would definitely insist on an MRI. Some things just don't show up on an XRay. If you can't move a body part, then yes there is a problem. Keep pushing your doctor for the MRI, and if you find he is unwilling to listen to you, then get your second opinion.

It sounds like muscle, tendons, ligaments and possibly nervous damage. More test are a must and if your doctor doesn't agree, get a second opinion. Even though you have no medical training, you are your first doctor. You know your body better than anyone. Good luck.

Get a second opinion...and try and get one with an orthopedist that specializes in the lower limbs.....they will probably order a MRI or CAT scan..which can pick up things that an x ray cant....and they should be able to tell you whats wrong and what needs to be done to fix it......

Definetly get a second opinion. While most doctors are great, some can also make mistakes too.
