My friend got some blood on my sheets. I wiped it out and put the sheet in my laundry basket. When i went to wash it , there was mildew on it. I washed it in bleach but the mildew is still there.

Are you sure its mildew? I lived in Bermuda for a while where mildew is a big problem due to the dampness. If it is mildew, try putting the sheets out in the sun and let them dry completely. That will kill the mildew. Then launder as usual. It sounds like you have a blood stain that won't come out.

Wash it again with bleach and detergent. As soon as it is done washing, put it in the clothes dryer. You have to get rid of the moisture. Mildew only survives in environments that are conducive for growth. That is wet, damp, moist environments. By putting it in the dryer you remove that environment. Now, if it gets mildew again, you need to check your bedroom for those conditions.

When you wiped it down and then put it in your laundry basket, the sheet was still wet. That's what caused the mold in the first place.

I had a jacket mildew once and washed it in the washing machine with some vinegar. It worked really well.
