Here's another way...

(10^-2)^2
= (1/10^2)^2
= (1/100)^2
= 1/10,000 <-- fraction
or
= 0.0001 <-- decimal
or
= 1 X 10^-4 <-- scientific notation

the answer is (10^-4). you can just multiply the exponents together to yield the final answer (-2 * 2 = -4).
