There've been bad calls, but to me they've seemed to be incompetence, not malicious. Look at the french, they scored a goal that wasn't counted, and they're still in it. If the goal didn't count because someone was out to get them, they surely could have found a way to make France lose to Brazil.

i think the Referee make a great call when he gave Ronney a Red card, soccer it is not a violent game and all the player should respect the other once, and Roney he basically push C. Ronaldo in front of the Referee eyes, so the Referee need to make that disision because Ronney force him to do it.
I like the English team when they play, and i was expecting them to advance even without Ronney, and i was looking forward to watch them playing with Brazil in the semifinals, but things does not happen as expected.
at last Referees are humans and every body makes mistake, in every socoor game there is few mistakes that the referee do, but at the end, Soccer is a peaceful game and everybody is human

i know exactly what you mean. yeah, at first i thought rooney was unfairly kicked out, but if you think about it, he was being really hot-headed and he purposely stepped all over that fool in the presence of the ref. that was stupid. i still think a yellow card would have sufficed, though.
portugal should not have advanced. they suck. the only good people on their side are cristiano ronaldo and the goalkeeper ricardo. that's it. england should have scored within that 90 min. period. there were quite a few absurd calls.
i thought it was rigged because of the france v. brazil game.
why does brazil decide all of a sudden to play like crap against a team that got by on pure luck?!! That bugs me. a lot.

I guess we were watching different World Cup matches. The US lost because they could not score, not bad calls. Rooney crushed some nuts and deserved a red card.
The refs are not great this time, but for the most part they have gotten it right.

i don't think thw world cup is rigged because it is impossible to do. however, i agree with you that the referees performance are quite bad. i was particularly concerned about the incidents in portugal's penalty box in the england-portugal match.

I don't because when you look at the ref's not all of them together will call the same calls...but all the ref's individually are consistant in their calls...If all those teams knew it was rigged...why would they go for it unless it was their team who was going to win...no I don't believe it's rigged

Rooney deserved the red card because he stepped on Cannavharo's balls and instead of feeling sorry he became violent by pushing Ronaldo. I think he needs to be punished so that he improves his descipline
