There are so many court shows on t.v., they are funny but most of the cases are so petty it shouldn't even have gone to court! Back in the day, court was for serious cases like murder, grand theft auto, drug trafficking and kidnapping! Now court can be for somebody suing somebody else because they looked at them the wrong way! They could even say it caused them mental trauma and they had to get counceling over it! Other stupid cases: Barking dogs, neighbors water from sprinkler is hitting the grass on other neighbors lawn, neighbor parks car in front lawn, Grandma took grandchild out to eat w/o permission of parents. All idiotic cases to be in court. Anybody else agree?

It comes down to the basic fact that people want something for nothing. A LOT of people are too lazy to get a job and are always looking for quick money.

To Mark ok, that old "bat" had severe 2d degree burns throughout her lap from the spilled espresso, which had no reason to be that warm, except McDonald's wanted determined that the client may like it slightly extra efficient if their espresso stayed hotter longer. That became valid. sure, the U. S. has lengthy gone sue chuffed, yet this isn't a contemporary experience. What you do not comprehend is that maximum persons of the litigation contained in the U. S. is initiated by organizations. they're no longer the victims of lazy ne'er do wells, as their PR corporations would have you ever believe.

It has nothing to do with lawyers and everything to do with money. For some reason everyone wants to make money or thinks if they have bad luck they deserve something for it. MONEY is the culprit here.....and that is why there are so many lawyers. IF the need wasn't there, they would be less lawyers I can assure you.
My brother actually went on Judge Alex show once. The show made it real easy for him and the defendant to do the show. The show paid for the airfare, hotel, food (for both sides of the case)and if he won the case, the show would pay his judgement for the defendant. So as you can see, they make sure there are plenty of incentives to do it, especially if you have no money to hire an attorney or pay court costs, etc. He won and received his check and the defendant got a judgement against her but did not have to pay, as they paid it on her behalf.....but no all is lost, she did get a free trip to Texas and free stay including meals while there.
I guess we are not necessarily a sue happy country, but rather an obsessed one with the root of all evil; MONEY, MONEY, MONEY! (disgusting, isn't it?)

Greed I suppose? Something to do huh?
People believe their rights are violated and that's why the courts are there. It is better than coming to blows and settling disputes - like they behead in some parts of the world to just to make a point........... Is that acceptable to some 'banal' court case?
I would prefer to settle even "petty" things in a court. It is the most civilized way of finding an end to an argument.
And to Munya Carr who asked "....get off the boat" - I have a word for you. Before you criticize someone, check yours first. It should have been "GOT off the boat" and as written by you.

I think it's a fascinating slice of The American Way.
And "back in the day" small claims courts were STILL full of dog bites, chopped down trees and fender benders. What, you just get off the boat? Get off your soap box, turn off the TV and read a book if you're so offended by current events.
And by the way, that little green box with the "abc" and the check mark in it--that means you can ACTUALLY SPELL CHECK your little diatribe! WOW!

Very true! The government and lawyers have conspired to make frivolous lawsuits easy. We seriously need tort reform all over the US. But it's difficult to do when lawyers run the system.
What do you call 100 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start! ;)

Because there are so many people that want something for nothing. Kind of like the people that wish a riot would break out, just so they could go steal things. Low ethics.

Comes from people looking for opportunities to get rich quick. And lawyers, vultures, bloodsuckers who are looking to make a dime anywhere they can, with no compunction for other humans. When a person can break into your property, hurt themselves, and then sue you for damages... that's where they system has gone WAY awry.
