The truth is, we are given very little information on this subject despite the fact that you are so close.

It was a scary turn of events when the Tories won the national election for PM. I cannot imagine any Canadian wanting a country with policies like the USA. But, since it is a minority win, there is safety in the balance. Harper believes that the big government is evil and cannot be trusted with anything. Harper thinks that government has no role to play in climate change or guns control, and has no right to intervene in the economy. He believes in a non-socialist society. Harper said, “I see from time to time that the Liberals and members of the Bloc say that I am George Bush’s puppet and other things like that,” and continued, “Even if I think that people don’t always agree with me, they understand that I’m nobody’s puppet.” Well, I HOPE not. Time will tell. So far, he has followed through on the promise.
P.M. Harper is not a multimillionaire like his predecessors. He has no assets or liabilities that would create a conflict of interest, it seems. Prime Minister Stephen Harper called GWB after the arrests of 17 suspected Islamic terrorists in Ontario and thanked him. That is new behaviour for a Canadian PM. He then vowed to continue to aid in the fight against terrorism (?). His lack of interest in the area of global warming is glaring, and I hope there are enough Canadians to force involvement in the issue.
The USA knows more about Canada than Mexico, I think, and it is important to be informed about your neighbours.

No offense, but the Canadian government isn't really that important. I know of Steven Harper and whatnot, and he seems good enough since he's conservative, but it really doesn't matter. Canada is only good for lumber, they're pretty much the most boring country in existence. They just ... sit there.

Was he in a John Candy movie? Or does he play in the CFL (Canabis Football League)?

No offense, but the American people (most of them) don't really pay much attention to Canada.
