No, it's not weird. It's actually a good thing for girls to do karate. It's exercise, and you're learning to defend yourself in case you ever get into trouble. Keep working towards that black belt and more power to you!

The only way that it would be weird is if you are just doing it for your parents and not for yourself. As long as YOU like it then it isn't weird at all. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. If you want or need more self confidence then just believe in yourself. Don't second guess yourself. If you feel strongly about something then stick with it, don't let anyone change your mind for you. You are the only person you have to prove to yourself. Yes it is nice to know your loved ones opinion but like I said before what matters is what you believe in.

Nothing is weird, anymore. Just unusual. In your case, Karate is not unusual or weird. It's a good thing- the discipline that you'll achieve and the ability to defend yourself is all good. Enjoy!

No. It means you will be developing strength, confidence, self-discipline, and respect for yourself and others at a time most other girls are busy trashing each other, spending hours obsessing about their appearence, and trying to catch guys not worth catching. It will make you extraordinary, not wierd. You will be far better off for your experiences and training. I envy you, I would have loved to have learned martial arts at your age, but I lived in a small town with no opportunity to. Make the most of this chance, you'll be glad you did!

No. If you like it then why bother? My friend's daughters started learning karate when they were 5 and they are now in their 20's and they still do it and teach.

Not at all. It's a very good thing to learn self-defence. All the Best.
