I parked it, went inside. And came right back out. It wouldn't start. When I went to lock the doors, I could hear a 'faint horn' and there was not enough power to lock them. A neighbor helped me jumpstart the car this morning so I could take it to Walmart to replace the battery. I get in, put it in reverse, and then it dies. What's the DEAL??? I'm clueless when it comes to cars. I need to work on that.

Well, I also charged it overnight too...Sorry forgot to mention that. Charging it didn't do a thing!

Only problem is I can't get it to Walmart. It dies when I put it in reverse. What can I do about corroded hookups?

Charge the new battery also, even if it's a new 1 it still needs to be charged.

Sounds like the battery is completely dead. The comp[uter on thsi truck requires 12.5 volts to operate. If you jumped started the cars battery and then it dies when you put it in gear, this is just the computers way of telling you that there is not enough voltage in the battery to keep it running. Might even be a bad alternator not recharging the battery. Go to walmart and ask to have the electrical system checked. This is a free check to determine if the battery is good or not.
Good Luck

It could be the alternator. I had to replace it in my car a few years ago. The alternator recharges the battery...

This is an easy one. Your battery terminals are corroded, or loose.
