i think that Steven Gerrard would do a tremendous job as England captain. HOWEVER as a Liverpool supporter i would not want him to get the captaincy because it will put added pressure on his shoulders and may affect his performances at club level. So John Terry would be my Second choice as he does a good job for Chelsea and has the respect of the players.

PS to that guy that Gerrard had a disappointing world cup, i admit he didn't play as he can but he still scored two goals and showed more enthusiasm than most of the players on the pitch!!!

2. John Terry without a doubt!

He's mature, he defends with passion and all the players look up to him.
Neville would be a good second! And I would rather eat my own shoe than let Gerrard or Lampard with the captains band! How can you captain the team you cannot score for! Never seen such bad shot:goal ratios ever!!

They should have gone to Specsavers!

I vote Steven Gerrard for Captain. I agree that John Terry would also do a good job, but Stevie’s rallying round of his players at the 2005 Champions League Final secured him as successor in my eyes.

Its either Gerrard or Terry.

altho Gerrard performance is quite a disappoinment this WC. but he is so better than that! and he obviously done a great job being the Liverpool captain. and Terry did a very good job playing for England.

and i cant believe you put Lampard in the list. he prefers to shoot the ball at the goalie rather than into the net. well, that is considering his performance in the WC.

I'm actually gonna go with 7 Rooney...I mean besides his stupid red card when they played Portugal...he's a really strong playing and has a lot of influence on his team....although Gary Neville would have to be my second choice...I'm gonna stick with Rooney as my first option...
