Why on earth do people go on chat shows to be humiliated on national tv so everyone else can laugh at them and slag them off? I take it they dont get paid for it and the hosts certainly dont help them. Anyone here ever been on one??

yes, I was on Geraldo Rivera when he had his talk show and I only went as my boyfriend at the time called in and got us on the show "to save our realtionship"...No, we did not get paid for it...we did get a plane ride to N.Y. from Boston, taped the first part of the show, got back on the plane and 3 days later, taped the 2nd half...because we did not live far, they did not put us up..that is what i call cheap!!!! we had to fly back and forth which sucked. They gave us $20 to get lunch and $20 did not go far, we ended up taking $ out of our own pocket too. A limo picked us up to cart us to the airport to the studio both times but it was not fancy or anything like i thought it would be and the guy was telling me how Mr, Rivera is a jerk and a cheater...He did flirt with the female guests on the show including me which i thought was uncalled for. This one lady guest was eating it up though. They had a so called counsler on the show which talked to the couples indiviually, that was a joke. Our relationship lasted only 3 months after that. Also, whatever you say , they have a right to edit it and switch it around, that sucks and there is a lot of waiting around while taping it, very boring at times...When i first found out, we were going on, I was like are you serious in a mad sort of way and then i was like I will make a mini trip out of it, it was a nightmare...not fun and i would never tell people to do it...It's not all it is cracked up to be. By the way, love your cat, he is so cute. I have 3 cats, Thunder, mittens and casey are their names

They probably want to be on the telly, no matter what. Or perhaps have people help them with their problems, like in the chat shows I watch. Some, of course, may really want to have their say on the subject for the whole nation to hear.

people go on talk shows to promote their new movies, albums, books, etc. It is usually written in their contracts, when they agree to do the project, that they will promote the final product. So, they do kinda get paid.

I havnt and I wouldnt either I have self respect. Those people are just soo sad. I think they are mad airing their dirty laundry in public and everyone knowing their business.

I would guess that they like the notoriety,and I believe that most of it is put on and not actually real.
