I think President's Bush's pride is the reason why American soliders are still in Iraq. What were the reasons President Bush presented to Americans to justify going to war with Iraq? They included: Iraq has weapons of mass destruction (WMD), Saddam Hussein is a dictator and to liberate Iraqi's for the purpose of establishing a democracy. Now, which of these goals were accomplished? None. There are no WMD. Iraq is on a verge of a civil war. There is no shortage of news describing how the US Army is committing the same atrocities that Hussein committed while he was still in power. The US has sunk billions of dollars to finance the war and, now, funding a provisional government that will immediately collapse once the US military pulls out of Iraq. If President Bush were to pull out American soliders then he would be admitting that he was wrong and America went to war for nothing. That it was a complete failure. a waste of time, effort and, most improtantly, lives. He should accept defeat gracefully but he won't.

It’s become crystal clear that the U.S. went to Iraq on a fake foundation of lies and deception. And now it’s stuck in the war, looking for ways to get out of a situation the Bush administration created without thinking of a long-term plan. But the Americans' patience appears to be wearing and President Bush will soon have to reconsider his decision to “stay the course in Iraq”.
The U.S. can’t afford an extended war in Iraq, but also a U.S. defeat in Iraq is something the American President would never admit or declare.
The best option for the U. S. is to come up with a new story to justify the need to withdraw all forces from Iraq without acknowledging defeat.
The U.S. has plenty of spin masters and appeasing media that can portray defeat as victory and the vast majority of Americans will believe it, even if the rest of the world doesn't Remember 911?
BRING OUR MEN AND WOMEN HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

In case you havent noticed its a big mess. There is alot of internal fighting. Most of the daily attacks are one Iraqi group killing Iraquis. VP Cheney was asked if this would happen before the war and he said no.
Answer to the answer above mine. They are fighting for freedom? Thats a stretch. At best you could say its taking the war to the terrorists since there have been no attacks in USA since 911. If the war in Iraq wasnt started the terrorists may have attacked USA. Take away freedom? Win the war? I dont think so. Where ever they show up they will get their asses kicked by the USA.

There are always a lot of knee-jerk answers to this...but it's not all that simple. I agree...as most everyone does, that starting that mess was a mistake...including most republicans. But beyond individual deranged murderers, rapists and madmen, never has there been a more clearly defined evil in regard to a society in our world today. Terrorists, by definition, promote their causes by inducing terror, killing civilians indiscriminately...men, woman and children...and their own countrymen...for no other purpose than advertising their cause, which is hatred for just about everyone. They have no clear objectives, no hope for a better world...only hatred..they only want one thing...to kill as many people as they can...including you if they had the opportunity. Certainly we cannot fix all the evils of the world, or take out every boogey man, but our men over there believe they are fighting for a just cause, against a clearly defined evil, an evil that somebody needs to stop.

We're in Iraq to establish freedom and democracy in a region where freedom and democracy are unknown concepts.
Our people will remain in Iraq until the new Iraqi government is strong enough to maintain their democracy by themselves.

We have achieved the objective, however, it is still vital that we provide security for the country while its new government gets established. If we did not stay, we probably get someone worse than insane Hussein as the countries leader, leading to more death and destruction later down the road.
Plus we need to spread franchising of McDonalds and Coca-Cola.
