there are products that you'd put in the radiator that stops leaks in the cooling/heating systems, Bars Leak is the best but it has an odor and it could stink up the car if i dosent seal quickly,, also i 've used a powdered aluminium type but i dont remember the name,,if you really know what your doing,, you can pull the hoses from the fire wall and connect the open ends of the hoses together with a piece of pipe or tube and hose clamps, or wait till your mom gets back just make sure there's water in the cooling system, before you drive, and you might even like to carry a gallon or 2 with ya and just keep an eye on the temp gauge,, if the car ony has a temp light keep checking the coolant level often,, if the light does come on, immediatly find a place to stop and add water, do not drive more than a minute or 2 and be careful removeing the radiator cap it could blow back and scald you and keep the motor running as you add the water to a hot engine or you could crack the block, :)

If it is not a bad leak you can do a simple fix for it. Just go to to an auto parts store and get a bottle of stop leak. Remove the radiator cap and start the car and turn the heater on full heat and pour the stop leak into the radiator and replace the cap. Let it run for about 15 minutes or so and then shut the car off. This should fix it and it only costs about $3.00. If this doesn't fix it then you can let your mom take it to get it fixed. It is fine to drive the car if the heater core is leaking as long as you check it regular to make sure that the antifreeze doesn't get too low.

You can always just bypass the heater core until you have the time and money to repair it later. Just reroute the inlet heater hose back to the engine, will not overheat, lose antifreeze or ruin the engine. Do this all the time. Have a classic Corvette and the interior gets too hot, so i bypass the hose back to the engine and the interior stays cool now.

Make sure you keep the cars coolant bottle full. You could also take it to a shop and have them bypass the heater core or block the hoses so that that it doesn,t leak until you can have it repaired.

You can get someone to bypass the core if the heater hoses are easily accessable under the hood. that way you won't lose any fluid and overheat.

Your antifreeze will leak out
You will over-heat the engine and ruin it..
