I just want to know how many hours a flight from Ireland to Connecticut would take.

There are no non-stops, you have to transfer, so factor in layover time. I calculated Shannon to Hartford on Travelocity.

Shortest flight is 10 hrs, 9 minutes on Continental, with transfer in Newark.
US Airways - 10:26, transfer in Philadelphia
On average, between 12 and 14 hours.

Continental has a non-stop from Shannon to Newark -
7 hrs, 5 mins. Probably faster to fly into Newark and take the train or drive to CT.
