i mean, for example, do you think an american can confront another person from another european country and have a stronger will or character than the other. be specific on who you think is stronger since french, spanish, italians, germans, swiss, etc, are all different.

I'm an American who lived in Britain for 2 years in the '90s and who has travelled all over Europe. I find Britons and Europeans in general to be more prone to compromise than confrontation. Americans tend to be more confrontational. This works both for us and against us. For example, there are plenty of yobs and miscreants in Britain and other parts of Europe who need to be confronted and faced down in order to make the place better. But sometimes my fellow Americans make idiots of themselves (particularly when alcohol is involved...) when they're in Europe because they don't understand the culture and how it works.
Personally, I make every effort to avoid being the stereotypical "Ugly American."

I think some time before Americans had a good reputation around the world... but i think now they are largely despised for the arrogance with which they behave... I think there is some problem. It is probably to do with the kind of political developments in your country. I have come across some good Americans and some Europeans too but too many arrogant and pig headed Americans than from any other nation. Especially in forums like Yahoo answers, it is evident from the kind of vulgar pro violence, racist conversations that Americans engage with. After all at least in public one ought to be more respectful towards others.
Character would mean different things to different people. It depends on what you think is the quality worth valuing in a person or a community. U need to be more specific about what exactly you are looking for.

What? I thought they were all the same. I have lived in Norway years ago and have visited Russia.
I work with someone from England and can't say there is much difference. His English is poor, but I'll get it straightened out.
To be a little more serious, sometimes I think where a person lives has the most to do with their culture.
Sometimes nationalistic pride over rides a persons cultural upbringing. I have been from Perth, Australia to Ekaterinburg(Yekaterinburg), Russia and have found people to be not so different. Guess it's all in what your used to and how you are.

Europeans, for a long time, have been seen to be more open-minded about sex, drugs, and liberalistic views. This is true eventhough they are more dependant in many cases on government subsidizing their welfare. I think we have a more conservative view and therefore a stronger will and defined character, maybe stemming from our patriotism and rspect of freedoms we enjoy

Quantifying "will" is difficult, but Americans have a better work ethic than Europeans, on average. This is measured by comparing unemployment rates, hours worked weekly, earnings per worker, etc.

Most Americans are all talk, so no. I think all Europeans in general are more strong willed than most Americans.

I think it depends heavily on the person. if my redneck cousin and went to europe...nope, he'd be a "weaker" person. BUT their version of my cousin could come over here and be looked at like 'that's what someone from England is like?!'. it's unfair to even assume one way or the other.
