There are many side affects from Depo Provera

* an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
* a blood clot in the lung (shortness of breath, pain in the chest, or coughing up blood);
* a blood clot in an arm or leg (pain, redness, swelling, or numbness of an arm or leg);
* severe headache or vomiting, dizziness or fainting, problems with eyesight or speech, weakness, or numbness in an arm or leg (indicating a possible stroke);
* high blood pressure (severe headache, flushing, blurred vision);
* liver damage (yellowing of the skin or eyes, nausea, abdominal pain or discomfort, unusual bleeding or bruising, severe fatigue);
* unusually heavy menstrual bleeding; or
* persistent pain, pus, or bleeding at the injection site.

Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur

* irregular, increased, or decreased menstrual bleeding;
* no menstrual bleeding at all;
* pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection site;
* headache or dizziness;
* nervousness;
* nausea;
* breast tenderness;
* changes in weight or appetite;
* oily skin or acne; or
* changes in hair growth.

When I got Depo Provera I developed really bad acne and cysts that I had to get treated for. After getting one shot I never got one again and ended up going on the pill.

I had been off and on of Depo a few times. The first time I was on it I lost weight, with a lot of exercise and I did not have periods. The most I had was a little spotting when it was time to get another shot.

The second and third time I did gain a little weight but still had no periods, I also didn't have any for about 3-6 months after getting off of the shot.

I really didn't have any other symptoms other than that weight gain and no periods.

lost of hair, gain weight, lost of bone growth, no period,or spotting, blood clots rear but sometimes,that's what i read when i stared getting my shot, the side effects fade away after awhile. try to stay away from cokes, take vitamins like D and calcium.the shot makes you hungry so no matter what try too keep on eating healthy.

You may want to search Yahoo!Answers for this topic, as it is asked regularly, and has gotten some great answers.

For me, it switched me from low blood sugar to diabetes.

If you suspect you have any blood sugar imbalances in your family history, I suggest you do not take this one.
