They are old remnants of our solar system that have been floating around in space for billions of years.

They are thought to be left over materials from the formation of the solar system. Most asteroids come from a space between Mars and Juipter. Comets come from the far reaches of our solar system in a region beyond Pluto known as the Kuiper Belt.

The "comets" and "astroids" are "inner-galactic" debris that has been travelling through the Galaxy for a very long time. An "astroid" is usually much smaller than a "comet", and we on the Earth generally only "see" them at night when they come into contact with our "atmosphere"...they dart across the night sky like a "streak" of light. A "comet", however, is generally a much larger body of inner-galactic debri and is travelling through our "galaxy", and something we can observe with our telescopes at night...and, if close enough to Earth, with the "naked eye". Both comets and astroids are travelling around 64,000 mph...but astroids may hit our atmosphere...but "comets" do NOT.

Many Comets start in the Kuiper Belt (short Period comets) or the oort Cloud (long period comets)

Asteroids start in the Asteroid Belt. The asteroid belt is a doughnut-shaped concentration of asteroids orbiting the Sun between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, closer to the orbit of Mars

Comets are icy particles that hang around in the Kuyper belt which is beyond the orbit of Pluto. It is the known last frontier to the solar system. Usually they start their inward path because of gravitational pull one of the giant planets. Some pass by once and then they are gone and some come around in repeated cycles.

Asteroids are between Mars and Jupiter. It is supposed to be a broken planet due to Jupiter.

Comets and asteroids are remnants of the early solar system. Comets reside in the Oort Cloud beyond Pluto, and the asteroids riside in the aptly named Asteroid Belt between Mars and jupiter.

actual now, gravity tractor is plausible yet is constrained to small asteroids. yet another factor is pulse lasers which could hit distinctive cases to nudge the asteroid away so it misses the impression. i became questioning of a rocket with a drill head and distant destruct payload. The rocket is presented in from the tail area, slows down and drill into the asteroid. as quickly as deep adequate, detonate and want the debris doesnt come into earth environment.
