When do you consider the start day for your period? The first day you notice light spotting or the 2nd day when you actually start bleeding(even flow) I was told by a lady who does the ovulation stick kits the first day spotting is not to be considered the 1st day of your period, is this true?

Everyone is different but I consider the very first time any blood comes out at all to be the start of my period. Think about it, spotting is bleeding it's just light. It also depends on the person, some women's period starts out heavy and some women start out light. A woman's period is the shedding of the lining of her uterus so whether it be spotting or bleeding it's still the lining of her uterus.
