Becks has finally relinquished his captaincy but who will replace him? Im pretty sure McClaren or whoever will not have to automatically pick a deputy like Michael Owen who is off-the-boil anyway but i have my money on John Terry!
What about you?

And for the record why didnt Sven take Bent (premier top scorer 05/06) or Defoe instead of seemingly-permenantly-not yet-match-fit Owen, or Walcott whom he dint paly above 10mins, for extra strike power upfront?

It will probably be Terry, but I'd prefer Gerrard....
As for Sven, I've NEVER liked him. The decision to take Walcott instead of Defoe or Bent was absolutely ludicrous. And for me it sums up how Sven managed England. We've got World class players with the likes of Gerrard, Rooney, Lennon, J Cole, A cole, Terry, but Sven made them look ordinary. Now we've got to wait another 4 years to try again!
I just hope that Sven's tactics haven't rubbed off on Steve Mclaren!!!

I vote Steven Gerrard for Captain. I agree that John Terry would also do a good job, but Stevie’s rallying round of his players at the 2005 Champions League Final secured him as successor in my eyes.

Terry, Gerrard and Parker are the terrific gamers for England. Parker has coronary heart, velocity and places his head on the line. Gerrards crossing and passing are reliable and Terry's protecting is incredible. we could desire to coach penalty's, Passing and taking photos from all forms of stages. we desire a sparkling formation the two 5-4-a million or 4-5-a million consistent with threat even 4-3-2-a million

most likely John Terry al though i dont think he is able to take the responsibility and i think steven Gerrard would be the perfect choice as he can play up front middle and defence and also this will make him play better he is scared when playing for england he doesnt shoot maybe because he isnt captain look at liverpool without him we they would be nothing but with his potential he could be the perfect captain and win the next euro and even the world cup
